Accessibility
Our commitment to building an accessible experience for every member of the equine community.
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Helix Equine IQ is dedicated to ensuring that our AI-based equine analytics platform, listing marketplace, and community are accessible and inclusive for all users, regardless of ability or assistive technology. We embrace diversity and recognize that accessible design benefits everyone.
Our target conformance standard is WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium). We also recognize and respect the requirements of:
- ADA Title III (Americans with Disabilities Act) — applicable > to users in the United States;
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — referenced as a > standard of good practice;
- EU Web Accessibility Directive (Directive 2016/2102) — > applicable to users in the European Union;
- AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) — > referenced for users in Ontario, Canada.
This statement explains our current conformance status, known limitations, planned improvements, and how users may request assistance or report accessibility barriers.
2. Conformance Status
Partially Conformant
Helix Equine IQ partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the platform's content do not yet fully meet all WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria. We are actively working to close these gaps.
As a newly launched platform (version 1), a formal third-party accessibility audit has not yet been completed. The conformance status described in this statement reflects our current good-faith assessment of the platform's accessibility posture. A formal accessibility audit is planned (see Section 8 — Ongoing Efforts & Roadmap), and this statement will be updated to reflect audit findings and remediation progress.
Date of Last Review This Accessibility Statement was last reviewed on August 13, 2026. We will review and update this statement at least annually, or sooner when material changes to the platform are made.
3. What We've Done So Far
We have implemented, or are actively implementing, the following accessibility measures across the Helix Equine IQ platform:
- Semantic HTML structure — Core pages use semantic HTML5 > elements (headings, landmarks, lists, labels) to support screen > reader navigation and compatibility.
- Keyboard navigation — Core platform functions are operable via > keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse or touch input.
- Alt text on platform UI images — Descriptive alternative text > is applied to images within the platform's own user interface. > (Note: alt text on user-uploaded listing images may vary — see > Section 4.)
- Color contrast targeting WCAG AA minimums — The core user > interface targets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal > text and 3:1 for large text, in line with WCAG 2.1 Level AA > requirements.
- Resizable text — Text can be resized up to 200% using browser > controls without loss of content or functionality.
- ARIA labels — ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) > attributes have been applied to interactive elements where > applicable to improve screen reader context and announcements.
- Mobile-responsive design — The platform is designed to respond > to a range of screen sizes and orientations, supporting users on > mobile devices and those who use zoom features.
- Focus indicators — Visible focus indicators are present on > interactive elements to support keyboard and switch-access > navigation.
4. Known Limitations
We are committed to transparency. The following areas do not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we want users to be aware of them:
Area: Description Status User-uploaded listing Alt text and captions User responsibility; images & videos for user-uploaded guidance provided listing photos and videos are the responsibility of the individual user who uploads them. Helix cannot guarantee their accessibility. AI analytics output In some views, On roadmap — see screen reader support AI-generated analytics Section 8 outputs may not be fully optimized for screen reader navigation and announcements. Data visualization Charts and graphs in In progress components the AI analytics reports may have limited screen reader support in version 1. Tabular alternatives are being developed. Third-party embedded Payment processors, map Third-party components integrations, and other responsibility — see third-party tools Section 7 embedded in the platform have their own accessibility implementations, which may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. These are beyond Helix's direct control. Video captions User-uploaded listing On roadmap — see videos may not include Section 8 closed captions or subtitles in version 1. Complex data tables in Complex data tables In progress AI reports generated within AI analytics reports are being improved to provide better screen reader compatibility, including appropriate header associations and summary descriptions.
A Note on Good Faith We have disclosed these limitations honestly because we believe users deserve to know where gaps exist. We are actively working to address each of these areas and will update this statement as improvements are made.
